"Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13:8
Max Lucado writes of this verse in his book, A Gentle Thunder: "God's love never ceases. Never. Though we spurn him. Ignore him. Reject him. Despise him. Disobey him. He will not change. Our evil cannot diminish his love. Our goodness cannot increase it. Our faith does not earn it anymore than our stupidity jeopardizes it. God doesn't love us less if we fail or more if we succeed. God's love never ceases."
God's love made Calvary a reality. God's love gave us Christ so that we might exchange our filth for riches. God's love goes above and beyond anything imaginable, because God's love is Agape: unconditional, selfless, seeking the best for the one it reaches. That's what God's love is all about, not seeking what is best for Himself, but seeking what is best for each of us. Remember the story of the prodigal son? The father's love did not depend on a son that did the right things, the father's love waited, hoped and prayed for his son's return. God is just that kind of Father. He loves us no matter where we have been, no matter where we may go. His love for us will never end. No matter our own failures, His love is waiting for us. And when we come home, His love will take us in His arms and hold us close. His love will be there to see us through all the tough times in our lives. His love will be there to rejoice with us in the good times. His love will be there to pick us up when we fall down. His love will be there when we are weary, to give us hope. His love will be there always, for his love never ceases; it never ends. It is something we can always depend on. God's love never fails. It's a promise you can count on! http://bridgelandsda.com/dailydevotionals/details.asp?id=89 |
